Hi everyone!
I’m Fr. Tomasz… or just Tomasz – if you have a problem with titles…
I was born on 27th August 1976 in SZCZECIN (north-west of Poland), but my hometown where I grew up is POLICE – I know that sounds strange 🙂
In 1995, I thought I could become a catholic priest and do a good job for God. Six years later – on 26th May 2001 – I joined the Clergy of the Szczecin-Kamien diocese.
After four years of work in the diocese of Szczecin-Kamien, my bishop Zygmunt Kaminski – a good chap but sometimes a little bit nervous – asked me to start philosophical studies. On that time I agreed only because I like challenges. Philo–Sophia (love of wisdom) came later.
During my studies I used to live in different places (mainly in Lublin /Poland, but also in Stockport /UK) and did many various things
(I studied, learned languages, travelled, met people, etc.).
When I was in England, I met a man I work with today. An interesting, and determined Irishman – Fr. Pat Munroe. Because he has a golden heart with a lot of patience for people he has gained my undying friendship.
Although I am an academic man, my first calling is priesthood. And that priesthood is not just about Holy Mass, but it is above all a journey through life with Jesus. I am glad that I am not travelling alone, that next to me are brothers and sisters from the St. Hugh’s and St. John parish in Timperley (Greater Manchester in UK). I am grateful to them that they are a new home for me, a new family for me and that I can always count on them.
Anything else? Hmmm …
Hobby: cycling, snowboarding, trips, and probably much more…
I love: books, good music, cooking, and single malt…
I hate: obvious stupidity, boorishness, and when someone tells me I’m lying…
Languages: Polish (mother tongue), English (communicative level and hopefully getting better every day), Russian (B2 level), Latin & ancient Greek (reading and translating level)
Education background:
2001 – MA in Theology (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan – Poland);
2009 – MA in Classical Philosophy (The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin – Poland);
2016 – PhD in the field of Classical Philosophy (The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin – Poland). Doctoral thesis: The reason for and the consequences of the elimination of the human soul within the anthropology of the Descartes, John Locke, and David Hume.
A study of the metaphysics of man.
… and that’s enough for now
